March 1, 2012
The first-ever Pittsburgh Penguins Adult Hockey Classic presented by Labatt Blue and Trib Total Media was recently held at the Ice Castle Arena and CONSOL Energy Center.
The tournament, a resounding success, featured four divisions and 26 teams in total. Each team played three round-robin games with a chance to play in the championship following the Penguins game against the Columbus Blue Jackets Sunday, February 26th.
Each player in the tournament received a ticket to the Pens game, a 4 – 2 afternoon victory, which featured goals by Evgeni Malkin, his 37th of the year, Pascal Dupuis, Kris Letang and Joe Vitale. The victory also marked the first-ever NHL win for Penguins goaltender Brad Theissen.
